Oystershell Publishing was founded in 2018 and is a Berlin-based publishing house that publishes in English.
We are dedicated to underrepresented and diverse voices (LGBTQ, women, people of color, minorities, gender diversity, different ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities, anyone lacking representation). We like to work with both new and established authors from all around the world and want to pave the way for talented writers who deserve to be heard.
We are interested in a variety of genres: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, erotica, mystery-thriller, horror, romance, art books, and photography books.
We publish 10-15 books each year.
We offer around three unpaid internships each season.
As we feel that for a long time profit-only oriented traditional publishers and agents were slowly suffocating books and readers by reprinting the same works over and over and refusing to publish anything truly new, we do accept unsolicited manuscripts only.
We offer traditional as well as ‘hybrid’ model of publishing contracts, which are becoming increasingly popular in recent years. After our editors have reviewed the submitted manuscript, and if we choose to go with it, we decide which option would work best for each book. We publish in paperback and ebook format.
Our team will provide editors, cover designers, and marketing experts towards the publication of each book. For each book to reach its full potential, we work with established professionals, who have years of experience in publishing but also in some of the biggest magazines in Europe. The books will be distributed worldwide in bookstores that support diversity and are aligned with our mission, as well as in the German National Library in Leipzig and Frankfurt am Main. Moreover, we will organize signings, press features and interviews, and book presentations.
